Profesional Bio

My name is Aly Hernandez, and I am a Latina actress and costume designer based in NYC. Recent acting credits include: Off-Broadway: Fefu and Her Friends (Atlantic Acting School), Women of Trachis (Atlantic Acting School). Other New York Credits: Quince (One Whale’s Tale) and A White Girl’s Understudy (The Chain). Indie Film: Oysters (Lead), Sweet Treat (Writer/Lead), Magic Library (Lead), We Were Girls Together (Lead). I graduated with a BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where I trained at the Atlantic Acting School and Stonestreet Studios for Film and TV Acting.

Personal Bio

Hi again! My name is Aly Hernandez. My multihyphenates include: Latina, actress, costume designer, and “one big heart machine.” In all of my work, I bring that whole heart into my process with a deep appreciation for the poetry of being human. I enjoy exploring the depths of human emotion and how it impacts our daily lives. I am constantly drawn to seemingly ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. I love an honest and ugly story that forces you to acknowledge your own humanity. So many times have I felt alone in my situation, only to feel such comfort in seeing my story understood in art. That is what I strive to provide for my audience. Your story is worth a stage.

When I’m not on stage or behind the scenes, I find stories in literature and poetry. I am currently reading my way through some of the classics. Currently reading: To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. I can talk for hours about the books I’ve read. Favorite book of all time? Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

And when I’m not reading, I’m working as a stylist, fueling my creative heart through fashion. That love for fashion and clothing is what led me to design costumes for theater. Clothes can say so much about a person, and it’s often your first impression of them. I love highlighting an individual’s personality with their clothing. My favorite way to do that for myself is by wearing my favorite colors. A burgundy red will always find its way into my life. Yes, that was the first thing I picked for this website.
